Being a racehorse owner is an immensely pleasurable and interesting pursuit, whether you're in the thick of it, or prefer to sit back and watch with interest from behind the scenes.

It is my intention to launch www.blueskybloodstock.co.uk in a couple of years time with a budget of £250,000 made up from 50 members of Blue Sky Racing Club each putting forward £5,000.
Blue Sky Bloodstock will purchase a yearling in each of 3 countries, France, England and Ireland and will have each trained in his/her country of purchase. All 50 Bloodstock members will own the bloodstock 100% lock stock and barrel.
Part of the intention behind the venture is to make stable visits a more exotic occasion for members and their partners and friends. Overseas social events will include trips to Paris and Dublin, stepping out on the Curragh or the gallops at Chantilly. And as for our English horse I think Ralph Beckett is the man for the job; a couple of hours at his Whitsbury base in Wiltshire, followed by a hearty breakfast and racing at Salisbury or Newbury would certainly be a day to remember for members and their guests.
The goals would be: Purchase two colts and a filly. Breed from the filly and sell the colts. That way we can begin a Blue Sky Bloodstock breeding operation, giving members a more hands-on and proactive relationship with the venture. At present Blue Sky doesn't own land for a stud but I do know people in the industry where our filly/broodmare could be housed on a long-term basis, where members could visit.
